Report: Israel prepares to give third COVID vaccine dose to elderly as early as next week, 2,293 confirmed infections yesterday
According to a report in the Hebrew daily, Yedioth Ahronoth, the Ministry of Health is planning to launch a first-of-its-kind operation to inoculate the entire elderly population – not just those with compromised immune systems – with a third dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Despite the lack of FDA approval for the booster shot, the decision is expected to be made today by the special team of experts advising on the COVID pandemic. Meanwhile morbidity rates continue to rise in Israel. Not only have the confirmed cases gone up – 2,293 yesterday with a test positivity rate of 2.4% – but the number of hospitalized patients in serious condition jumped to 147.
