While CDC cuts quarantine for COVID cases, Israel lengthens it for unvaccinated who encounter COVID carriers
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control shortened quarantine time for Americans who are asymptomatic with COVID-19 to five days from 10.
This comes as Israel revised its own quarantine rules for people who come into contact with a verified COVID patient but are not infected themselves. The isolation time has been reduced for vaccinated and recovered Israelis with no change for the unvaccinated who need to spend a week or more in home isolation if they are deemed to have been in into contact with a confirmed COVID carrier.
"Those who have not been vaccinated and who have been in contact with verified coronavirus cases (regardless of the variant) will be required to quarantine for seven days and undergo coronavirus tests at the start of their quarantine and on the seventh day, with negative results, as a condition for its conclusion," the Ministry of Health website states.
This applies to anyone from age 5 and up.
As for the vaccinated and recovered, they are required to test and quarantine until the result is received. If the result is negative, they can go free but are advised to "avoid crowded leisure and recreation venues and contact with high-risk populations" for 10 days.
It is unclear how or if that will be enforced.
