Report: Israeli DM heads to DC to discuss Iranian options, including joint military drills
“Iran is a threat to world peace, to the region and it seeks to become an existential threat to Israel,” said Gantz
Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz is expected to meet today with senior U.S. officials in Washington to discuss the possibility of a joint military strategy against Iranian nuclear facilities if talks with Tehran don’t pan out, according to an exclusive report from Reuters.
Gantz is expected to meet with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
“In the meetings, we will discuss ways to preserve Israel's security superiority in the region and the security challenges, and above all – dealing with the Iranian aggression,” Gantz said.
“Iran is a threat to world peace, to the region and it seeks to become an existential threat to Israel. We will discuss possible courses of action to ensure that Iran's attempt to reach a nuclear space and thus expand its activities in the region is halted.”
Just three weeks ago in a subtle show of force to Iran, US, Israeli, Emirati and Bahraini navies held a joint drill.
