Various organizations representing the world’s largest Jewish diaspora communities announced the establishment of a joint task force against antisemitism.

Dubbed J7, or Large Communities’ Task Force Against Antisemitism, will bring together the shared resources of Jewish communities in the United States, Great Britain, Canada, France, Australia and Argentina, where a large majority of Diaspora Jewry reside.

In an official statement, the task force said it will "develop strategies and action plans within areas such as policy and advocacy, tech policy, security, extremism and education against antisemitism."

William C. Daroff, head of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, warned that the ancient Jewish hatred is mutating in the 21st century.

“Antisemitism, which is the world’s oldest hatred, no longer looks or spreads the way it did in the past," Daroff said.

He stressed that contemporary Jew hatred is mainly spread online and focuses on the Jewish state rather than individual Jews.

"The vitriol once felt for individual Jews or Jewish practice has metastasized into blaming the Jewish people and the Jewish state for the ills of the world. Social media enables anti-Semitic hate to cross borders, where it spreads faster than ever before," warned Daroff.

Like other senior Jewish officials worldwide, Daroff said that large Jewish communities need to cooperate and adapt to the changing nature of antisemitism.

"It is therefore imperative for the largest diaspora Jewish communities to engage in regular conversation to develop strategies to combat the pernicious spread of antisemitism. What impacts one community, impacts us all.”

The number of antisemitic posts on Twitter has reportedly doubled since Elon Musk bought the social media platform in October 2022, according to Britain's Institute for Strategic Dialogue and CASM Technology.
