During the operation, a terrorist cell fired an RPG at the troops, who responded with quick artillery fire towards the position. Under the direction of the brigade's Fire Control Center, an IAF aircraft eliminated the terrorists.
On Monday night, troops completed the destruction of a terror tunnel route that was 1.5 kilometers (almost one mile) long and 23 meters (75 feet) deep, in cooperation with the Yahalom Combat Engineering Unit. The tunnel was recently used by Hamas and passed near the area of the corridor where the IDF troops are active, presenting a threat to the forces.
During the operation, the soldiers, in cooperation with the IAF, eliminated dozens of terrorists and destroyed more than 70 terrorist infrastructure sites, with cooperation from Yahalom soldiers.
On Tuesday evening, the IDF confirmed that IAF fighter jets were coordinating an airstrike with ground forces against Hamas targets in the area of al-Bureij in central Gaza. At the same time, Palestinian media reported that the IDF was striking Rafah with artillery.
In the morning, two Palestinians were reported injured by artillery fire at the southeastern areas of the city of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.
On Wednesday morning, there were additional Palestinian reports of IDF artillery fire in central Gaza.
At the time of publication, the IDF confirmed that forces in the area of al-Bureij and Deir al-Balah had begun a new “targeted operational activity.”
According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Office, “the activity started on the basis of intelligence information indicating the presence of terrorists and terrorist infrastructure above and below ground in the area.”
The IDF stated that the new maneuver began with a series of airstrikes on Hamas targets in the area, including military compounds, weapons storage facilities, and underground infrastructure. Several Hamas terrorists were eliminated.
