IDF says Iran ordered Hezbollah to begin attacks on Israel’s northern border
Israel Defense Forces spokesman Brig.-Gen. Daniel Hagari said on Monday morning that Hezbollah had carried out attacks on Israel’s northern border at Iran’s directive in order to distract Israel from its war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“Hezbollah carried out a number of shooting attacks in order to distract from our war efforts in the south [Gaza], under Iranian instruction and with their support,” Hagari stated.
Hagari warned Hezbollah not to escalate the conflict.
“If Hezbollah fails to understand us, the response will be deadly,” he said.
While the U.S. government has tried to minimize Iran’s involvement in the war, due to criticism over Biden’s policy vis-à-vis Iran, Israel has consistently stated Iran is involved.
