7 Israelis killed, at least 15 others wounded in terror shooting at Jaffa light rail station in Tel Aviv
Two terrorists were shot and killed at the scene by security officers
Seven Israelis were killed and another 15 were wounded in a shooting terror attack in the Tel Aviv area on Tuesday night, the Israel Police announced.
Magen David Adom rescue services said it had received a report of a large-scale shooting incident at the light rail station on Jerusalem Boulevard in Jaffa just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
Paramedics and emergency crews rushed to the scene and began administering life-saving treatment to several critically wounded victims of the attack.
A preliminary investigation by the security forces indicated that the terrorists traveled on the light rail line, exited at the Jerusalem Boulevard station in Jaffa, drew their rifles and opened fire at civilians in the area.
Two terrorists, allegedly residents of Hebron, were seen on security footage leaving a light rail car with their weapons drawn.
The two men were later shot and killed by security forces.
“Two terrorists came to Jerusalem Boulevard in Jaffa and started shooting civilians,” Israel Police spokesman Aryeh Moron said. “The two terrorists were eliminated – but we are continuing the investigation, trying to locate collaborators.”
According to security footage from the scene, passersby took cover in the light rail train cars.
Light rail traffic along the entire Red Line was halted.
