Netanyahu to first meet Biden, Harris Thursday
WASHINGTON, DC — One of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu’s top strategic objectives during his visit to the United States this week is to build stronger U.S.-Israeli ties and strengthen bipartisan support for the Jewish state, especially in a time of war.
To this end, he will address a Joint Session of Congress at 2 p.m. EST on Wednesday, hoping to make his case to build Republicans and Democrats.
On Thursday, Netanyahu is scheduled meet with President Joe Biden at 1 p.m. EST at the White House.
This will be their first meeting at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue since Biden took office 3 1/2 years ago.
Biden came into power choosing to stumble Netanyahu despite claiming to have a strong 40-year friendship.
Over the last year, Biden has routinely criticized Netanyahu on the record, while resorting to using obscenities to attack Netanyahu behind closed doors.
Now Bibi has outlasted Biden, who dropped out of the U.S. presidential race on Sunday, though he plans to stay in power until Jan. 20, 2025.
Later on Thursday afternoon, Netanyahu will meet separately with Vice President Kamala Harris, who just received Biden’s endorsement and hopes to be nominated as her party’s presidential candidate at the Democratic National Convention in late August.
The meeting could be awkward.
Harris has chosen not to attend Netanyahu’s speech to U.S. Congress on Wednesday, but instead will speak to a sorority event in Indianapolis.
Many pro-Israeli Americans believe Harris is snubbing Netanyahu because so many left-wing progressives –including members of “The Squad” – hate the Israeli leader and want him driven out of office.
On Friday morning, Netanyahu will fly to Florida.
Bibi will meet with former U.S. President Donald J. Trump at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach.
The two men have not met for the entire 3 1/2 years since Trump left office.
As far as I’m aware, the two men have not even spoken by phone over all these years.
In December 2021, ALL ISRAEL NEWS reported that “Trump is furious at Netanyahu for moving so quickly to congratulate Joe Biden on winning the 2020 election – within 12 hours of the polls closing – when there was so much doubt and white-hot controversy surrounding the results.”
“According to a new book published only in Hebrew by one of Israel’s premier political reporters, Barak Ravid,” we noted, “Trump can be heard on the audio tape of the interview saying of Netanyahu, ‘F-- him.’”
It’s not clear whether Trump and Netanyahu have reconciled but this is their opportunity.
