Air strike in Syria kills two; Syrian media blames Israel
Two Syrian civilians were killed in a strike early Wednesday morning in a village in the Homs province, according to pro-government media reports.
A Syrian opposition war monitor, however, said the strikes seemed to target positions housing Hezbollah fighters.
SANA News Agency said the Syrian military shot down several missiles from Israeli forces, but the Jewish state had no comment on this specific attack and usually avoids commenting on whether it is involved in certain military actions.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said a total of four people were killed and seven injured in the explosions that rocked the border area between Syria and Iraq.
According to reports, Syrian air defenses intercepted some of the missiles.
“An Israeli air aggression targeted parts of the central region, and the air defenses are responding,” Syrian media said.
