Violence in Nablus as IDF demolishes home of terrorist who killed Israeli soldier last October
Second home demolition of terrorist this month
The Israeli Defense Forces demolished the home of terrorist Osama Tawil in the city of Nablus on Wednesday night.
Tawil is one of two terrorists who shot and killed IDF Staff Sergeant Ido Baruch in a drive-by attack in October. Baruch was a soldier in the Givati Brigade.
The two terrorists were arrested in February during an overnight operation that also led to clashes between IDF forces and armed Palestinians.
According to Palestinian news reports, one person, Khalil Yahya al-Anis, was killed in the firefight with IDF forces who came to demolish the apartment. In addition, two others were wounded, including one who was critically injured.
The IDF said troops encountered opposition during the demolition and a firefight ensued in which Palestinians shot and threw explosive devices at Israeli security forces.
In videos of the clashes that were posted to social media, people could be seen throwing large rocks and Molotov cocktails at IDF vehicles.
There were no casualties among the security forces but damages to military vehicles were reported, according to the IDF.
Last week, IDF forces demolished the Ramallah home of the terrorist behind the November bus stop bombings in Jerusalem. IDF forces also encountered resistance during that operation, and three Palestinians were reported taken to a local hospital with injuries.
