Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen is scheduled to arrive in the United Arab Emirates on Oct. 22 on his first official visit to the Gulf nation since becoming an Abraham Accords partner, according to a local i24 news report.

Earlier this month, in his first official visit to an Abraham Accords partner, the foreign minister visited Bahrain for three days.

While in Bahrain, Cohen met with Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and thanked him and his father King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa for their leadership in signing the Abraham Accords, “which brought change in the Middle East and contributed to regional stability and the prosperity of the peoples of the region,” according to an official statement.

The foreign minister also officially inaugurated the permanent residence of the Israeli embassy in Manama, Bahrain’s capital, and signed several memoranda of understanding between Israel and Bahrain.

Cohen tweeted that the inauguration was like a dream come true.

“If they had told you a few years ago that an Israeli foreign minister would place a mezuzah in an Israeli embassy in the capital of an Arab Muslim country in the Persian Gulf, you would have thought it was a pipe dream,” Cohen wrote.

“The Abraham Accords changed the Middle East and proved that when you reach for peace and dream big, you can do the incredible. We will continue to work to expand the circle of peace and bring stability, growth and prosperity to the Middle East and the entire world.”
