Washington, D.C. — Does Bible prophecy really say that God will one day impose apocalyptic judgment on the wicked leaders of the Iranian regime?

Are there also Bible prophecies in which God says, “I am going to move my throne” into the heart of Iran?

And if so, what does any of that mean?

After all, doesn’t the Bible say that the Messiah is going to return to earth in the last days and set up His throne in Jerusalem, from which He will rule and reign over the entire globe with “a rod of iron”?

I’m in the United States for the next few weeks visiting family, and particularly my ailing parents, but before I left Israel I recorded an interview with the world's leading expert on Iranian Christianity and Bible prophecies related to the future of Iran.

As he discusses with me on air — and as he explains in more depth in his fantastic book (for which I wrote the foreword), Iran’s Great Awakening: How God Is Using A Muslim Convert To Spark Revival — Hormoz grew up as a Shia Muslim in Iran.

In 1979, he and his wife were on the streets of Tehran with millions of others shouting, “Death to Israel! Death to America!”

But somewhere along the way, they were radically saved by Jesus Christ.

Today, Hormoz is an Evangelical Christian pastor and media pioneer who runs the world’s foremost satellite TV ministry in Farsi.

He and his colleagues preach the Gospel and lead Bible teachings in Farsi to millions of Iranians, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 

That’s why in my foreword to his book, I wrote, “I consider Hormoz Shariat to be the Billy Graham of Iran. He is far and away the most-watched and most influential Iranian evangelist in the world, and his story is well worth reading.”

“Today, the mere mention of Iran often conjures up thoughts of war, terror and tragedy,” I noted. “But Hormoz and I believe a new day is coming. Soon, possibly very soon, the Lord Jesus will move His throne into the heart of Iran….The Islamic Republic will become the Christian Republic. The Islamic Revolution will become a Gospel Revolution.”
