The media lynching of Israel

Screenshot of collage of media stories blaming Israel for the bombing the Al-Ma’amadani Hospital in Gaza.

Kayleigh McEnany, co-host of Fox channel's program, “Outnumbered,” asked the following question of U.S. Congressman Michael Waltz, who appeared on the show, which aired on Wednesday, Oct. 18:

A major wire service in this country, Associated Press, in the wake of that hospital strike, sends out, on their wire, ‘Breaking: The Gaza Health Ministry says at least 500 people killed in an explosion at a hospital that it says was caused by an Israeli airstrike.’ If Putin had put out propaganda of that nature, blaming a hospital strike on Ukraine, would the Associated Press, NY Times, CNN and others say Putin says Ukraine to blame for hospital strike?

The question, already revealed the obvious bias that McEnany was trying to point out – that being that the obligation of so-called responsible news services and media outlets, which are not supposed to run with the word of terrorist-run governments whose leaders will stop at nothing to justify and lie about their barbaric and murderous actions. The irony was that the accusations were made toward a country whose military is known for having one of the highest moral compasses when it comes to protecting innocent civilians in hostile areas, even at the expense of their own ability to advance the fight.

But when there are dishonest actors, seeking to distort and influence uninformed audiences, who, likewise, are predisposed to believe vicious lies, that is what can be defined as “media lynching.” It is nothing more than assisting the dissemination of an evil agenda in the hope of bloodying up the entity which one seeks to severely injure – in this case, the State of Israel, along with its military.

However, it is also because of this blatant, insidious bias that the truth can be revealed as to whose word should not be trusted or believed in the future. Such was the case with Congresswoman Rashida Talib who “was among the first to promote the Hamas claims, using the false information to call on President Joe Biden to lead the charge for a ceasefire in the Middle East.” Taking to social media, she wrote “@POTUS this is what happens when you refuse to facilitate a ceasefire and help de-escalate.”

Likewise, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar posted her own claim on X, stating, “Bombing a hospital is among the gravest of war crimes. The IDF reportedly blowing up one of the few places the injured and wounded can seek medical treatment and shelter during a war is horrific. @POTUS needs to push for an immediate ceasefire to end this slaughter.”

It was at that moment, that both women, shamelessly, displayed their immediate impulse to believe the worst about Israel, blame them for a crime against humanity and hastily post it in their desire to make sure that the accusation would spread like wildfire, and it surely did.

You’d think that Omar would have been doubly careful after just having posted photos of dead Syrian children from 2013, a few days ago, blaming their demise on the current Israel/Hamas war. But her dishonesty knows no bounds. It didn’t matter that the claims were false and terribly libelous. The idea was to prepare the noose for the lynching of Israel in order to garner more support for her lying narrative.

But while such deceit is predictable from the likes of Squad members, all of whom are known to possess a great hatred for the Jewish state, where is the moral obligation of supposedly reputable media outlets to verify their sources, especially those that are extremely dubious because they have an axe to grind in their great desire to paint one side as the real villain?

According to Al Jazeera, “the fog of war” is responsible for the confusion, “against a backdrop of competing online narratives and widespread disinformation.”

But who’s kidding who? The fog of war can be responsible for many things, but false reporting in order to push a lying agenda is not one of them. Media lynching of Israel is a purposeful act, designed to foment hatred, stir up emotions and keep the fire burning against an already hated country that has undergone this kind of blood libel for centuries.

After all, it was the then highly-respected New York Times, to which Journalism Professor Laura Leff, of Northeastern University referred, stating, “No American newspaper was better positioned to highlight the Holocaust than the Times, and no American newspaper so influenced public discourse by its failure to do so.” The full story was outlined in her book entitled, “Buried by the Times: The Holocaust and America’s Most Important Newspaper."

It seems that not much has changed since then. The NY Times still remains a newspaper with a dishonest agenda by reporting what it believes will foster the preferred beliefs of its readership. They, too, in their morning briefings, reported the unsubstantiated word of “Palestinian authorities” which said that “the blast was caused by an Israeli airstrike, killing 500.”

So now that everyone has had a chance to hear and read the translated intercepted conversation between two Palestinians who, in real-time, were heard saying that the explosion occurred as a result of their own side’s rocket firing, which went wrong (reported to occur 30% of the time), a full disclaimer was surely made by the newspaper, right? Not exactly.

The updated article reads as follows, “The Israeli and Palestinian authorities have traded blame for a catastrophic explosion on Tuesday at a hospital in Gaza City which Palestinian officials say has left hundreds dead. Many questions about the blast remained on Wednesday. Neither side’s claims about who was responsible has been independently verified.”

The absurdity of this “explanation article” is that it’s dated after the translated Palestinian conversation had been aired many times during the day, but the article still casts doubt on who was really at fault.

Such reporting is shameful and worthy of a guilty verdict in its attempt to lynch Israelis as the butchers of a war that began 10 days ago with the horrendous slaughter of innocents who did nothing but try to live their lives in an enlightened world, tone that they would have never believed could produce such barbaric acts.

The media is now complicit in this barbarism by trying to blur the lines, hide the real truth and back the side of savagery. The good thing is that those of us who are able to rationally and clearly discern evil from good know exactly what is going on because we are on to the scam being perpetrated by a dishonest media.

Their mistake is not giving us enough credit for being smart enough to recognize their fraud and deceit while they claim to hold themselves out as honest reporters of the truth!
