News Brief
Six Palestinian prisoners on the loose after escaping Israeli jail Monday morning
Six high security Palestinian prisoners escaped an Israeli prison before dawn on Monday via a tunnel dug underneath.
Several of the prisoners were connected to terror attacks against Israelis. Five are members of Palestinian Islamic Jihad and one is a high-level commander in Fatah's military wing.
Police are using helicopters, drones and dogs to search the area and Israel's military has beefed up security on the borders with Gaza and Jordan in case the prisoners are headed there.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett called this a "serious event" that required a coordination with all security services.
The Israeli holiday Rosh Hashanah begins this evening.
