Senator Tim Scott loves Jesus, America, and Israel – will God raise him up as the next Vice President?

I just spent an hour with the most fascinating man on Trump’s short list

WASHINGTON, DC — Few American senators have a personal testimony as powerful or as inspiring as Tim Scott.

To read his wonderful and deeply moving memoir – AMERICA: A REDEMPTION STORY – or to spend time with him in person is to hear stories of God’s mercies and miracles.

A hundred years ago, his grandfather was a black man growing up in the rural south.

A sharecropper who picked cotton all day under the brutal South Carolina sun.

Denied anything more than a third-grade education.

Denied his basic human rights, denied his civil rights, denied his political rights, and had little prospect of making a better life for himself or his impoverished family.

But rich in one very important respect: Having been raised in a Christian family and culture, he eventually came into a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Scott’s grandfather was, as the Bible describes in the third chapter of the Gospel of John, “born again.”

That is, he was suddenly and supernaturally adopted into God’s royal family.

And this imbued him with a deep sense of personal worth — and hope for the future.

FROM COTTON TO CHRIST TO CONGRESS

It was this transformative personal faith in Jesus Christ that he passed down to his children and to his grandchildren.

One of whom grew up to be a businessman.

And then a Member of Congress.

And then the first – and thus far only – Republican Member of the Senate.

And then a presidential candidate.

Today, Tim Scott – grandson of a sharecropper – is on Donald J. Trump’s short list to be Vice President of the United States.

“It’s an Ephesians 3:20 moment,” Scott told me as I interviewed him on Capitol Hill yesterday for THE ROSENBERG REPORT and ALL ISRAEL NEWS. “In just a hundred years, my family has gone from cotton to Congress, and now I’m under consideration to be the vice presidential nominee of my party. Think about that.”

“Even if it doesn’t happen, it shows that anything is possible in this country,” he continued. “God is able to do immeasurably more than we can hope or think.”

Regardless of what Trump decides, Scott (58) could not be happier.

In January, he proposed to his girlfriend, Mindy Noce.

She said yes.

He has been never been married before.

They are to be wed in South Carolina on Aug. 3.

AN ELECTRIFYING PICK FOR VICE PRESIDENT – AND ONE WHO COULD CHANGE THE ELECTORAL MAP?

Some conservative and Evangelical leaders have told me that Scott would make an electrifying pick for conservatives generally and for Evangelicals, in particular, should Trump ask him to join the ticket.

He loves Jesus, loves America, and loves Israel.

He is hopeful and optimistic about the future of the country, especially with bold, visionary, and courageous leadership in the White House.

And he could very well help expand the electoral map for Trump.

How?

By making Trump – who has been damaged by 34 felony convictions and embarrassing stories of paying off a porn star, not exactly appealing for traditional values voters – more attractive to Christians and independent voters, as well as to African Americans who are being hurt badly by the high inflation created by the Biden administration.

Scott makes a compelling argument that with his help on big tax cuts and Opportunity Zone legislation, Trump created the lowest unemployment rate for Black Americans and the highest rate of home ownership and small business ownership for Black and Latino Americans and women than at any other time in the country’s history.

Polls show that upwards of 15% to 20% of African Americans are actively considering voting for Trump. More than the typical support for past Republican presidential candidates.

If Senator Scott were on the ticket, could Trump lock in those gains and even drive up those numbers to 25%?

In a close election, that could prove to be decisive.

A HISTORY MAKING CHOICE?

Just the very fact of inviting Scott onto the ticket would make history.

Never before has the party of Abraham Lincoln – the party that ended slavery in America – run with an African American in such a high and powerful position.

Yet, Scott would by no means be a token or symbolic pick.

He’s an experienced leader with a dozen years in the Senate.

He has served on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, as well as on the Banking and Finance Committees.

He has written major pieces of legislation and would thus be an asset to Trump in advancing bills through Congress.

What’s more, Scott is solid on issues critical to both conservatives and independents, as well as to centrist Democrats.

He’s passionate about protecting America’s borders, stopping what he calls the “invasion” of 10 million illegal aliens entering through Mexico, including hundreds of suspected foreign terrorists.

He’s passionate about advancing free-market reforms to reduce inflation, increase energy independence, and create more – and better – jobs for all Americans and especially for minorities and those in the inner cities.

He’s passionate about restoring law and order on American streets, backing the Blue rather than defunding the police, and also making much-needed reforms within law enforcement to protect the civil rights of all Americans.

SOLIDLY PRO-ISRAEL

The Senator is passionate about rebuilding America’s military power and restoring American leadership in the world.

He is also solidly pro-Israel.

Indeed, a good portion of our conversation was about his determination for the U.S. to be a far more faithful ally and friend of the Jewish state, and to stand against the Iranian regime and its terror proxies in the Middle East.

From the opening moments of the interview, Scott blasted President Joe Biden’s disastrous pullout from Afghanistan, accused Biden of “incompetence” and “hubris” in the Middle East, and sharply criticized Biden’s decision to withhold military aid and arms shipments to Israel during its hot war in Gaza and Lebanon.

TOO NICE TO BE VEEP?

Some argue that Scott lacks the executive experience to be President, having never served as a Governor or even as a Cabinet Secretary.

Others say he lacks the “killer instinct” to be a strong VP candidate.

He’s not an attack dog, they say.

He’s “too nice” to be Commander in Chief.

Republican strategists tell me that Scott would likely do a fine job debating current Vice President Kamala Harris... and that would be fun to watch.

But some ask: Does Scott truly understand the severe Deep State and Woke threats to the nation?

Is he strong enough to take on those threats decisively should he suddenly have to become President?

WHEN WILL TRUMP ANNOUNCE HIS VP PICK?

Trump’s decision is imminent.

Scott is definitely on the short list, I’m told by people close to the former President.

Trump has praised Scott for months, and even in recent days.

But some sources say Trump’s attention is shifting to Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, and possibly even Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin.
