Rocket alarms blare across northern Israel for nearly a full hour as Hezbollah retaliates for top officer’s death
Terror group claims to have fired 200 rockets and 20 drones
Hezbollah forces fired a massive barrage of rockets and drones at targets across the full length of Israel’s northern border on Thursday, claiming the attack to be retaliation for the death of its senior commander who was eliminated in an Israeli strike on Wednesday.
Alarm sirens blared for almost one full hour in Israeli communities from the Mediterranean Sea to the northern Golan Heights, including in the coastal cities Nahariya and Acre, Safed, Kiryat Shmona and Katzrin.
The first reports indicated two impacts in Acre and Regba, while the Magen David Adom emergency services reported treating and evacuating two women who sustained injuries while running to seek shelter.
Israeli media reported that most projectiles landed in open areas and sparked numerous brush fires. Hezbollah claimed to have fired 200 rockets and 20 drones at various Israeli targets, including five IDF bases.
A military source later confirmed the terror group's statistics, in what was possibly the largest Hezbollah launch attack so far. Hezbollah said the attack was the continuation of its response to the death of Muhammad Naamah Nasr, who commanded the western sector of Hezbollah, adjacent to the border in southern Lebanon.
On Wednesday evening, Hezbollah had already fired a 100-rocket volley at Israel.
The “Fighting for the North” forum representing hundreds of displaced families, stated in response: “The State of Israel is a step away from losing the north. This is a war for all intents and purposes and the State of Israel must win it and not surrender through an agreement.”
“Only a security zone inside Lebanon will bring peace in the long term. We will not be silent if there is no immediate response, we will take to the streets and fight for the country.”

Similar to its response the day before, the IDF on Thursday reacted by shelling the launch areas with artillery, before launching a broader wave of airstrikes toward southern Lebanon.
On Wednesday evening, the IDF stated it had struck three rocket launchers, including one that was used in the 100-rocket barrage earlier.

Throughout the night, the IDF reported that IAF fighter jets had struck several more targets, including one in the Chihine region and three military structures near Blat.
