Tensions soar as Israeli ship attacked in Gulf of Oman, one day after Iran vows revenge for attack on nuclear facility
Attack could be escalation of a shadow war between Israel and Iran in the waterways of the Middle East
An Israeli ship near the United Arab Emirates was hit by what an apparent Iranian missile on Tuesday, just one day after Tehran vowed revenge for an attack on its nuclear facility which they blamed on Israel.
The Hyperion Ray, was off the coast of the UAE when it was hit. It sustained minor damage, according to reports. The ship is owned by the same company that saw another ship damaged in a mysterious hit in February.
Another Israeli-owned ship, the Helios Ray, was hit by a mysterious explosion in the Gulf of Oman in the first salvo of a shadow between the two countries being carried out in the waterways to the Middle East.
The Helios Ray was badly damaged in the February attack. At the time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed Iran for the blast.
“This was indeed an operation by Iran. That is clear,” Netanyahu said at the time. “Iran is the greatest enemy of Israel, I am determined to halt it. We are hitting it in the entire region.”
In a second attack, an Iranian missile was reportedly fired at another Israeli ship in March.
Then last week, an Iranian ship was struck in the Red Sea. Iran blamed Israel for the attack as it had just reopened indirect talks with the United States to revive the controversial 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
Joel Rosenberg just warned last week that Christians should be paying attention to the Middle East because "winds of war" are blowing.
Israel's Channel 12 reports that today's attack involved no injuries and that damage to the Israeli commercial ship was minimal.
All of this was occurring on the eve of Israel's Memorial Day for fallen soldiers and victims of terror.
Tensions escalated even further between Jerusalem and Tehran after a bomb was smuggled into Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility and then set off remotely on Sunday night resulting in a blast that knocked out power and set back Iran’s nuclear program some nine months.
Iran immediately accused Israel of the attack while Israel has remained silent.
