Popular Israeli singer cancels all concerts due to green passport restrictions, says he will not cooperate with 'fascism'
One of Israel's top musicians is canceling his concerts due to the reinstatement of the “Green Passport” which prohibits unvaccinated people from entering certain events and venues without proof of a negative COVID test.
“I already stated in the past that I won’t perform if there are restrictions that won’t allow some of my fans to come to my show,” Matti Caspi wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday. “I won’t cooperate with dictatorship or fascism.”
"I would rather disappoint myself and not perform, than disappoint even two people who will want to come to my performances and will not be allowed to because we have not been vaccinated," he continued. "I will only come to the shows if all the restrictions are removed and anyone who wants to will be allowed to come to my shows."
Last year, Caspi called former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a "dictator" for his handling of the pandemic, including the cancellation of all concerts and shows. He and his family temporarily moved to Italy to "take a break from the chaos."
"In light of the sad situation that the Israeli government has created for its citizens and for culture, my family and I have chosen to disconnect for the sake of our mental health," he wrote last October.
