“I want to wish His Highness, Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed and all the citizens of the United Arab Emirates, our new friends, a very joyous National Day,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Twitter.
“The fruits of peace are at hand,” he said. “When the UAE succeeds Israel succeeds, and when Israel succeeds, the UAE succeeds. May our new partnership be an example to all nations of the Middle East. Together we are building a better future for our two country for our region and for the world.”
The public holiday is marked on Dec. 2, but includes several days of celebrations.
This year, Israelis joined in wishing the UAE a happy National Day — a fact noted by the Khaleej Times, Dubai’s English language newspaper.
“It is with great pleasure that I wish our new friends in the UAE a Happy 49th National Day!” Knesset Member Michal Cotler-Wunsh said.
Yoseph Hadad, a popular blogger from Jerusalem, also wished the UAE a happy holiday and welcomed UAE citizens to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
“I am looking forward to coming and seeing Dubai and Abu Dhabi, too,” he said.
“It gives me such tremendous joy to stand in Jerusalem, the bridge between our faiths, to wish our dear friends in the UAE the happiest of national days,” said Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer.
“Happy National Day! We wish you happiness, good health and great success. This was a very special year for both nations and we wish the coming year will be full of surprises and new friendships,” Dr. Yael Zamir, said, adding “Marhaba!” which is hello in Arabic.
