New Shannon Bream book, ‘The Mothers and Daughters of the Bible Speak,’ to release ahead of Passover and Easter
Fox News anchor, a devout Evangelical who loves Israel and Jewish people, says she was "blown away" by response to first book on women in the Bible which sold nearly 400,000 copies
JERUSALEM—Just in time for Passover and Easter, a new book will be published that will explore the lives ofwomen in the Bible and their exciting, challenging and often messy journeys of faith as mothers and as daughters.
“The Mothers and Daughters of the Bible Speak: Lessons on Faith From Nine Biblical Families,” written by Fox News anchor and chief legal analyst Shannon Bream, will release on March 29.
She revealed the cover, title and release date on Fox & Friends on Wednesday, saying she is excited to rediscover the modern relevance of these ancient stories from the Bible.
She also said she was “blown away” by the success of her previous book, “The Women of the Bible Speak” – the runaway No. 1 New York Times bestseller that has sold nearly 400,000 copies – and by “the response that we got,” saying she heard “from women and men all over the globe literally telling me they never knew there were so many encouraging and inspiring stories about women all through the Bible.”
These accounts, she added, “have always been there but we pulled them out and highlighted them.”
“But there was so much more to look at,” she said. “So, this brand new book does look at a lot of these women through the lens of motherhood, daughterhood, of traditional families and families that come together in adoption, giving us a bigger picture of God adopting us into His family.”
“Another big theme in the book is spiritual mothers and daughters. Not all of us are going to be moms. Not all of us are going to have daughters. But if we share faithm we can be mentors, we can encourage, and who has not needed that over the last couple of years.”
SHANNON SHARES WHY THESE STORIES INTEREST HER SO MUCH
I loved Shannon’s previous book, reading it myself – and then listening to it on Audible – and buying copies for my wife, mom and mother-in-law.
We also included the title in our ALL ISRAEL NEWS Book Club list of recommendations.
Lynn and I have so enjoyed our decade-long friendship with Shannon and her husband, Sheldon.
They are both devout Evangelical Christians who love the Bible, love Israel and the land of the Bible, love the Jewish people and the lessons we can learn from them as shared through the scriptures.
They also seek to live out their faith in the marketplace in a fresh and winsome manner.
When I interviewed Shannon for ALL ISRAEL NEWS last year, I asked where the idea of writing about these Bible stories came from.
“You know, Fox actually came to me because they were starting their book label last year, and they said, 'We want our second book to be something in this space for women and for religion, and would you want to take this on immediately?'” Shannon told me.
“And I was immediately so excited by the prospect of getting to do this because, of course, these are stories I've read and studied my whole life.”
“I learned so much in writing this book and going back and digging deeper into each of these stories. But we decided to pull out several women –and there's so many great ones; you can include them all – but these are some of the more prominent stories. And actually we have a mix. I sort of joke, but it's true. We've got a prostitute. We've got a murderer. We've got a queen. We got Mary, the mother of Jesus. I mean, there is a variety in here for you to choose from….But then in the end, there were so many other women and their interaction with Jesus that I wanted to include that we did sort of a catch-all chapter to show the relationship that Jesus had with women in his time as well.”
The new book, like the last, will be published by FOX News Books, a fairly new imprint the cable TV network has created in partnership with Harper Collins.
“It has been remarkable to see FOX News Books flourish,” said Suzanne Scott, CEO of FOX News Media, “which is more evidence of the power of FOX News Media and the connection we have with our loyal, engaged audience.”
“We are exceptionally proud to debut our first franchise, capitalizing on Shannon’s highly insightful Women of the Bible series, this time focusing on the mothers and daughters.”
In a statement, Bream said, “Watching the success of ‘The Women of the Bible Speak’ was a highlight of my career and an experience for which I am forever grateful. During the challenging year of the pandemic, hearing the feedback from readers across the country was an inspiration for me to continue in my journey of sharing the stories that I love and have helped me through hard times. I am ecstatic to continue on this journey as the first franchise author for FOX News Books.”
