Netanyahu calls on security chiefs to take tougher stance on ‘insubordination’
Speaking at his weekly Cabinet meeting on Sunday morning, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on security chiefs to combat “insubordination” after hundreds of military reservists refused to report for duty because of judicial reform legislation.
“There is no place for insubordination in the public discourse,” he said.
Netanyahu also condemned “violence from any side,” but did not specifically mention the violence against protestors last night.
Opposition leader Yair Lapid, who runs the Yesh Atid party, responded on Twitter: “Stop the legislation and the chief of staff won’t need to fight insubordination, the Shin Bet head won’t need to fight incitement and the police commissioner can be made available for the fight on terror before Ramadan. It’s all in your hands.”
