Shortly after the Hamas invasion and brutal terror attack on southern Israeli communities on Oct. 7, 2023, the National Library of Israel (NLI) in Jerusalem decided to establish a “Memorial Wall for the Murdered and Fallen” in its newly-inaugurated building.

The memorial, available in English and Hebrew, features images and names of more than 1,650 civilian victims and IDF soldiers who were brutally murdered on and after Oct. 7 last year, a day that Israelis now refer to as the “Black Shabbat.”

Displayed on a massive 20-meter-long screen, it is part of the NLI's "Bearing Witness" project, which records the events of Oct. 7 and their aftermath, both locally in Israel and internationally.

The list of fallen individuals is continually updated, allowing visitors to engage in personal and collective mourning.

In response to numerous requests from the global community, the NLI has developed a collection of high-quality, downloadable files of the “Memorial Wall for the Murdered and Fallen” now available in English.

May the memories of the victims and those who have fallen be a blessing and may the remaining Israeli hostages in Gaza be returned swiftly and safely to their homes.
