During a special Israeli Cabinet meeting in the northern coastal city of Nahariya, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked U.S. President-elect Donald Trump for the strong statement he posted on his Truth Social media platform, demanding the hostages be released before his inauguration on Jan. 20, 2025.
The prime minister said that Trump's statements “put the emphasis in the right place – on Hamas, and not on the Israeli government, as is customary in some places.”

16:20 - Judge in Feldstein 'leaked documents' case says evidence of intent to harm is weak
Tel Aviv District Court Judge Alaa Masarwa says prosecutors have presented clear evidence that Eli Feldstein, an aide to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, passed on classified documents. However, they had insufficient evidence to prove Feldstein intended to harm national security by leaking a top-secret IDF document to the press.
At a hearing on a potential remand for Feldstein, Masarwa said “sufficient apparent evidence has been presented for this stage of the proceedings regarding the charges of illicit transferal of classified information and its publishing in the media."
Regarding the most serious charge, Masarwa said he found “weakness in the evidence for the charge of transferring classified information with the intent to harm the state.”
Even initial reports about the leak surmise that Feldstein believed he was helping the prime minister by leaking the documents dealing with information that could affect a potential Gaza hostage deal.
