LISTEN: Interview about combating false reporting against Israel in global 'media war'
Adam Levick of CAMERA UK explains how the organization tirelessly combats misinformation through fact-finding, thorough research and respectful dialogue
In this timely and thought-provoking interview, Christian journalist Paul Calvert speaks with Adam Levick, co-editor of CAMERA.org’s UK Division, about the ongoing and multifaceted challenges Israel faces – not only on the battlefield but also in the global “media war.”
CAMERA, the Committee for Accuracy in Middle Eastern Reporting and Analysis, is at the helm of reducing media bias and ensuring that the truth about Israel and the Jewish people is accurately portrayed.
Levick begins by describing the notion of a “cognitive war” against Israel that is taking place alongside the physical conflict against the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza and Hezbollah terror forces in Lebanon.
This cognitive war fought in the realm of information and perception – primarily through global media, social media platforms and public discourse – manipulates narratives and inverts the perpetrator and victim.
“The barbarity, the cruelty, the sadism of the attacks on civilians that day was on a scale that... is not just the worst anti-Semitic massacre since the Holocaust. I think the level of anti-Semitic fury and hatred and violence that day was on par with the Holocaust,” Levick explains, underlining the enormity of the media’s failure to accurately represent the events of Oct. 7, 2023.
Throughout the interview, Levick shares CAMERA’s remarkable efforts to contend with misinformation, which prompted an astonishing 600+ corrections in 2023 alone – double their previous record.
Nevertheless, significant challenges persist because of inaccuracies and perceived bias in some media outlets, including The Guardian and the BBC.
Levick explains how CAMERA works around the clock to combat falsehoods, including the malicious accusation of an Israeli “genocide” against Palestinian civilians. Through fact-finding, responsible research, and respectful dialogue, the organization tirelessly fights against misinformation. “We are doing a kind of holy work in pushing back against these really insidious lies about Jews and the Jewish state,” he shared.
Listeners will be inspired by Levick’s heartfelt prayers for the release of hostages and restored peace in Israel. The discussion sheds light on the critical role of CAMERA’s work and encourages a deeper understanding of the ongoing media truth crisis and spiritual battle surrounding the Holy Land.
This interview is a must-listen for those seeking a fair perspective and clarity on this complex issue.
