Knesset Christian Allies Caucus relaunches activities in summer session
KCAC works to create opportunities and cooperation between Israeli Knesset members and Christian leaders worldwide
The Knesset Christian Allies Caucus (KCAC) relaunched its activities for the summer Knesset session on Tuesday.
The caucus kicked off with a celebratory event to mark Israel’s 75th Independence Day at the beginning of the 25th Knesset session.
The KCAC works to create opportunities for communication and cooperation between Knesset members and Christian leaders throughout the world.
The group was founded in 2004 by late Knesset Member Yuri Shtern of the Yisrael Beitenu party, led by Avigdor Liberman, and includes representatives from various political parties, such as Likud, National Unity, Yesh Atid and Religious Zionism.
National Unity party Knesset Member Sharren Haskel, co-chair of the caucus, said KCAC’s work is important for combatting anti-Semitism.
“[Increasing] our ties with these Christian supporters of Israel helps us to effectively combat antisemitism while strengthening global support for Israel,” said Haskel.
Caucus co-chair Yuli Edelstein, a member of Likud and chair of Israel’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, said, that it was important not to underestimate the importance of strengthened cooperation between Christian leaders and the Jewish state.
“Our goal is to build direct lines of communication and cooperation between members of Knesset from all parties with leaders of Churches and Christian political representatives worldwide,” Edelstein said. “I also hope that we can show the Israeli people the immense support which Christians have given and continue to give to Jewish aspirations in the Holy Land.”
Josh Reinstein, director of the KCAC and president of the Israel Allies Foundation, said that “faith-based diplomacy is one of the most important tools that Israel has in its diplomatic arsenal.”
“With antisemitism rising around the world, it is more important than ever that we continue strengthening political support for Israel while developing relationships with Bible-believing Christian leaders around the world,” said Reinstein.
KCAC states on its website, that it “refuses alliances with any group that actively pursues the conversion of Jews to Christianity.”
