Israel soldier shot and killed in accident on army base
An Israeli soldier was killed after it appeared that another soldier’s gun was accidentally discharged on an army base in Jerusalem late Monday night, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The IDF is investigating the incident.
Neither soldiers’ names were released, but according to media reports the soldier who was killed served in the military police and was part of the battalion in which Sgt. Noa Lazar had served. Lazar was murdered in October in a terrorist attack while on duty at a Jerusalem checkpoint.
Israeli soldiers were met with violence in Ramallah on Monday night while trying to map out a house for demolition, according to a statement from the IDF. The home belongs to the terrorist who committed the twin bombing attack in Jerusalem on Nov. 23. Aslam Farouk – an Arab from East Jerusalem and a supposed ISIS supporter – was arrested six days after the attack.
Farouk, a mechanical engineer, acted alone after learning how to make bombs on the internet, the Shin Bet said.
Aryeh Schupak, 16, and Tadese Tashume, 50 were killed at one of those bus stops.
