Israel’s security cabinet has approved new humanitarian measures to help Gazan civilians who are suffering due to Israel’s war against the Hamas terrorist organization.

The Times of Israel reported that the new measures were approved just before “the Wednesday deadline set by the United States for Israel to address the crisis or risk a partial embargo on weapons from Washington.”

On Oct. 13, the United States established the requirements that Israel must meet to continue receiving U.S. weapons.

Among the approved measures is the opening of another crossing from Israel into Gaza, allowing humanitarian aid trucks to enter.

“In accordance with directives from the political echelon, and as part of the effort and commitment to increase the volume and routes of aid to the Gaza Strip, the ‘Kissufim’ Crossing was opened today (Tuesday) for the transfer of humanitarian aid trucks,” the IDF and COGAT (Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories) announced.

The statement said that the operation “includes the delivery of food, water, medical supplies, and shelter equipment to central and southern Gaza.”

“The IDF, through COGAT, will continue to operate in accordance with international law to facilitate and ease the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip,” it concluded.

Despite implementing the new measures, Israel will not meet the U.S. standard of 350 trucks per day.

However, an Israeli official said that the majority of the humanitarian demands made by the U.S. have been met, the Times of Israel reported.
