In first for an Israeli humanitarian organization, ZAKA Search and Rescue signs agreement with Dubai counterparts
ZAKA, one of Israel’s most storied private search-and-rescue organizations, has signed a collaboration agreement with a similar organization based in Dubai, the first of its kind for a humanitarian organization.
Always on the scene of accidents, natural disasters and terror attacks, ZAKA workers have saved countless lives in the Jewish state over the years by moving quickly and effectively.
The agreement was signed at the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid & Development Conference & Exhibition (DIHAD) by senior representatives of ZAKA and DIHAD’s organizational committee, covering the sharing of best practices, training workshops, and other collaborative efforts. The Memorandum of Understanding also formalized ZAKA as a member of the DIHAD 2021 conference, scheduled to take place next November.
“We see it as a great privilege, within the implementation of the Abraham Accords, to be the first Israeli humanitarian organization to sign an agreement of cooperation with DIHAD,” ZAKA Chairman Yehuda Meshi Zahav said. “There is no greater expression of peace than volunteer units partnering for mutual humanitarian aid and assistance, as well as professional training in search, rescue and recovery.”
Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, executive chairman of DIHAD Conference and Exhibition and the International Advisory Council DISAB, agreed.
“We are confident that ZAKA’s participation in DIHAD will be of great benefit due to their immense efforts and expertise in the field of humanitarian work and the training of specialized cadres in situations of disaster,” he said. “We are proud of their joining the DIHAD Conference and Exhibition as the first institution participating in this humanitarian event from the State of Israel.”
