An Israeli reserve soldier was seriously wounded when a Hezbollah anti-tank missile slammed into Kibbutz Dan on Wednesday afternoon, just as the terror group launched around 60 rockets at northern Israel.

The 39-year-old member of Kibbutz Dan’s emergency squad was taken to Rambam Hospital in Haifa while suffering from shrapnel injuries, the IDF said.

Hezbollah claimed the attack targeted an Israeli military checkpoint as a response to the Israeli attack on a residential building in Nabatiyeh on Tuesday. The building contained a Hezbollah headquarters, according to media reports.

Other anti-tank missiles were launched at the Mount Dov area and Metula in the north, but mostly landed in open areas and did not result in casualties or damage.

Around the same time, a volley of some 30 rockets was fired at the Western Galilee, mostly landing in open areas near Abirim, the IDF stated. The Hamas branch in Lebanon later claimed responsibility for the volley.

Another barrage of around 30 rockets was fired at the Upper Galilee, also landing in open areas near Kfar Szold.

At the time of publication, Hezbollah had taken responsibility for seven attacks on Israel on Wednesday.

After Israeli officials increased their threats of an all-out war against the Lebanese terror group, including the possibility of a ground incursion, a security official told Israeli outlets on Wednesday: “I can’t go into detail about the future plans against Hezbollah, but as you can see, we have intensified the hits against the organization.”

The comment was likely made in reference to the unusually intense airstrikes in Lebanon the night before, as well as the numerous targeted assassinations over the past few days.

On Wednesday, an Israeli drone strike killed two men riding a motorcycle near the city of Tyre, while another two people were killed near Mais al-Jabal when their motorcycle was struck. Hezbollah so far confirmed the death of one of its operatives in the second strike.

In addition, the IDF said Air Force (IAF) jets struck a rocket launcher used to attack Israel in the Marimine area, as well as a launcher that was ready to fire near Rashia al-Fakhr and an observation post in the Shuba region of southern Lebanon.

Some opposition forces within Lebanon continued efforts to prevent an all-out war with Israel.

Samy Gemayel, president of the Christian Kataeb party, has spoken out against Hezbollah several times in recent months, especially criticizing its stranglehold over the country, which allows the group to unilaterally decide whether to drag the entire nation into war.

While Lebanon is mired in a years-long constitutional crisis, Gemayel said changes to the country’s political system can only be made once it is no longer under Hezbollah’s control.

“It is necessary to free the country from this hegemony before talking about any changes, which would only deepen divisions among Lebanese,” Gemayel told the An-Nahar newspaper on Wednesday.

He added that “no change can be made without Hezbollah’s approval” and that “decentralization or federalism cannot solve the problem of weapons outside state control.”

“What matters to Hezbollah is maintaining its control over Lebanese political life, whether through a president or in a presidential vacuum if it suits them,” he stated.
