I’m back to work writing a new political thriller – and loving every minute of it!
This will be the fifth in my series of novels about former Secret Service agent Marcus Ryker
JERUSALEM—As much as I loved traveling across the United States for the last six weeks of 2021, I have to say I’m jazzed to be back home in Jerusalem, hard at work on my next novel.
Don’t get me wrong. It was great giving speeches and doing radio and TV interviews about my non-fiction book, "Enemies and Allies: An Unforgettable Journey inside the Fast-Moving & Immensely Turbulent Modern Middle East."
Plus, I had many meetings and meals with key leaders in business, government, the media and the Evangelical community.
Even dinner at Mar-a-Lago and a conversation with former President Donald J. Trump.
Along the way, I picked up a lot of useful insights and tidbits that I’ll be working into my columns this year.
But first and foremost, I’m a novelist.
While I absolutely believe in the importance and power of good, professional, serious and truthful journalism – which is why I helped start ALL ISRAEL NEWS and ALL ARAB NEWS – I also believe in the power of story.
The joy of getting lost in a narrative that sweeps you away into another world.
That makes you lose all track of time.
That captures your imagination and your emotions, not just your intellect.
Which is why I’m so happy to be writing fiction again.
Five years ago, I posted this picture on Facebook from our apartment in Netanya and wrote that I was starting to write a new political thriller. That one was "THE KREMLIN CONSPIRACY," the first book starring former Secret Service agent Marcus Ryker.
Today, I’m posting this article and picture from our apartment in Jerusalem to say I’m hard at work editing, sharpening and strengthening my next thriller, the fifth with Marcus Ryker.
I actually finished the first draft of this one last summer. Then released "Enemies and Allies" and did two rounds of a book tour in the fall.
Now I’m pushing hard to finish this final draft by March 1.
No, I’m not ready to reveal the title or cover yet. Those will come later this year. Keep a close eye on my Twitter feed.
I can tell you the new novel will be released in March 2023.
But that’s all I can say for now.
Gotta keep writing!
