Hezbollah leader Nasrallah: Attacks against Israel will stop as soon as Gaza truce is reached

Hezbollah will cease its near-daily attacks against Israel as soon as a truce agreement between Hamas and Israel is reached, the Lebanese terror group’s leader Hassan Nasrallah declared on Wednesday.

Speaking at a memorial for senior Hezbollah commander Muhammad Naamah Nasr, who was killed by the IDF last week, Nasrallah said that if Israel wants calm on its northern border, it would have to stop the war in Gaza.

“We have been ‘imprisoning’ 100,000 soldiers on our front for nine months,” the terror leader declared.

“We are waiting for the results of the negotiations. Today there is a meeting in Doha. The whole world has come to terms with the fact that Israel cannot defeat (Hamas) militarily and a ceasefire must be brought about. Only Netanyahu and Ben Gvir are stubborn.”

“Hamas negotiates in the name of the Palestinian factions and of the resistance axis. Whatever Hamas agrees to, we agree to it,” Nasrallah added.

He also noted the recent political turmoil surrounding the IDF draft law in Israel, claiming it to be “proof of the success of Hezbollah’s pressure” that has shown effects not only militarily, but on the whole society.

Nasrallah further boasted that his group had hit sensitive targets and launched rocket barrages of unprecedented size over long distances.

Despite this, he stressed that Hezbollah wants a truce in Gaza, vowing his front would “stop the fighting without any word, without negotiations, because it is only a support front.”

On Wednesday, Hezbollah again launched a large rocket barrage, targeting the area of the towns of Snir, Dan, Dafna, and Sha’ar Yeshuv with a volley of some 30 rockets. No injuries or serious damage were reported.

On the eastern side of Israel’s northern front, Wednesday saw a highly unusual incident as Israel announced it had struck Syrian army infrastructure, which was in violation of the forces' separation agreement in the Golan Heights.

“Earlier today, the IDF used tanks and artillery to attack military infrastructure of the Syrian army, which violated the agreement of the separation of forces between Israel and Syria (1974) in the buffer zone.”

“The IDF considers the Syrian army responsible for everything that happens in its territory and will not allow attempts to violate the separation agreement,” the IDF stated.

The agreement, signed in 1974 – the year after the Yom Kippur War – established a demilitarized zone (DMZ) along the border between Israel and Syria. East of the border, several lines of disengagement stipulate what types of military equipment the Syrian army is permitted to use at certain distances from the border.

The DMZ is controlled by UNDOF (United Nations Disengagement Forces), which is stationed at various observation posts and camps to oversee the agreement.

Although Israel has frequently targeted Iranian assets and their military proxies in Syria in recent years, official announcements of strikes against the Syrian army have been quite rare.
