Here are the 12 key points in the Lebanon ceasefire agreement
On Tuesday, Israel’s Channel 13 reported that the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon contains the following 12 points.
1. Hezbollah and all other armed groups in Lebanese territory will cease offensive operations against Israel.
2. Israel will not undertake any offensive military operations against targets in Lebanon, including by land, air, or sea.
3. Lebanon and Israel will recognize the importance of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
4. These obligations will not undermine Israel or Lebanon's right to exercise their right of self-defense.
5. Lebanon's official security forces and LAF (Lebanese Armed Forces) will be the only armed entities authorized to carry weapons or deploy forces in south Lebanon.
6. All sales, transfers, or production of weapons or related materials to Lebanon will be under the supervision and control of the Government of Lebanon.
7. All unauthorized installations involved in the production of weapons or related materials will be dismantled (NOTE: Channel 13 reports that it is unclear if this is only in south Lebanon or all of Lebanon).
8. Moving forward, a committee, mutually acceptable to Israel and Lebanon, will be established to monitor and assist in the implementation of these obligations.
9. Both countries will report every violation of these obligations to the committee and the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
10. Lebanon will deploy its official security forces and LAF along all borders, border crossings, and the line that will designate south Lebanon in the deployment plan.
11. Israel will simultaneously gradually withdraw its forces south of the Blue Line over a period of 60 days.
12. The United States will advance negotiations between Israel and Lebanon to establish a recognized international border.
