Heads of Israeli defense establishment weigh public disclosure concerning IDF readiness
Hebrew media reports on Sunday morning indicate that the Israel Defense Forces chief of staff, the head of Mossad and the head of Shin Bet security are considering releasing a public statement regarding the current defense situation. The statements are to be made in light of reservist refusals to serve, and following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's unwillingness to convene the cabinet to discuss the situation.
In last week’s cabinet meeting, Netanyahu refused to discuss the IDF’s competence, because“things leak later” in the press.
Due to Netanyahu’s reluctance to address the issue directly, the three defense heads are reportedly considering a coordinated release to disclose information to the Israeli public.
Each head is expected to address his own organization’s activities and efforts in response to the crisis.
