Global leaders officially call on governments to provide 'necessary security' for Jewish citizens and communities

Envoys from 24 different nations, including the United States, joined together on Monday to call on governments to provide “necessary security assistance” for Jewish communities.

The statement includes 30 signatories from countries across Europe, North and South America and multi-national organizations, and comes amid increasing levels of antisemitism in the wake of the horrific Hamas terror attack in southern Israel on Oct. 7.

Governments in the U.S. and other nations have reported huge spikes in antisemitism since the attack on Israel that stole at least 1,400 lives in Israel.

The statement also calls on university administrators to ensure that Jewish students are safe on their campuses and asks civil society organizations, such as sports federations, religious communities and cultural and academic circles, to “not remain silent.”

The statement demands that social media platforms address the swell of “antisemitic messages, disinformation, hate speech, and terrorist content, which instigate real world hate crimes and threaten the very social cohesion that binds our democratic societies together.”

“Synagogues and other Jewish sites have been attacked,” the statement reads. “Schools have closed since they can no longer guarantee the safety of their students. Shabbat gatherings require the presence of armed guards for protection. In some cities, Jews are being harassed and accosted on the streets. Posters of the captive hostages are defaced and torn down. Antisemitism online has surged in an unprecedented way.”

“There have been demonstrations in many countries, including in some countries and regions which we represent, in which individuals praised these heinous actions of Hamas, ‘celebrated’ the murder of Jews, and even called for more antisemitic assaults,” the statement continued.  

The call for action, however, did not mention that the war was instigated by the Hamas terror group's invasion of Israel, which led to the counter-attacks against Hamas in Gaza. Israel has stated that its goal is to eliminate the Hamas terror group once and for all. The statement also noted that there has been “widespread condemnation” of the Oct. 7 attack.

In their brutal attack on Israel, over 3,000 Hamas terrorists breached the border with Gaza and slaughtered over 1,400 people, the majority Israeli and foreign civilians. At least 240 people, including women, children and the elderly, were taken hostage and brought back into Gaza, where they have been held captive for a month.

According to the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health, more than 10,000 Palestinians in Gaza, mainly civilians, have been killed during the campaign. Those figures cannot be independently confirmed, however, as the terror group has been known to inflate the death toll numbers as part of its effort to garner international support.

The Hamas terror organization, and other Iranian terror proxies, are known to not differentiate between terrorists and civilians nor between Gazans who have been killed in Israeli Hamas-targeted airstrikes versus those from the hundreds of Hamas rockets that have misfired or fallen inside the Gaza Strip.
