El Al -- Israel's national airlines -- in the spotlight for special UAE flight
A good week in an otherwise horrible year.
JERUSALEM -- Effectively grounded for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the closure of the State of Israel to tourists and business people until further notice, the national airlines of Israel is suddenly in the spotlight.
El Al gave a special paint job to its Boeing 737-900 plane that will shuttle Israeli and American diplomats to the United Arab Emirates on Monday.
The word "peace" was painted over the cockpit windows in Hebrew, English and Arabic.
It is a good week in an otherwise horrible year.
The airline has been struggling so severely that it faces bankruptcy, nationalization, and/or being sold to foreign investors.
In July, Reuters reported that El Al had decided to cut 1,700 employees from its total workforce of 6,500.
