Education Minister Shasha-Biton: 'It is disturbing that anyone who presents a different approach is immediately labeled a corona-denier'
Education Minister Yifat Shasha-Biton responded to other Cabinet ministers who harshly criticized her approach to the upcoming school year, arguing that schools should open in a routine manner.
“The unprecedented campaign, briefings and slander against me in recent days will not deter me,” Shasha-Biton said.
“The public should be concerned that anyone who presents a different approach to the fight against corona is immediately labeled a corona-denier. We have reached an absurd situation – all health problems in the State of Israel have disappeared, leaving only one solution: to vaccinate children during school hours in September.”
Channel 12 reported that some ministers, which were left unnamed, said that “2 million Israeli school children are being held captive by a corona-denier.”
The education minister has opposed the widely-pushed idea of administering COVID vaccines at schools and implementing regular testing for those too young to receive the vaccines.
Shasha-Biton added, “I will continue to consider the education system, the teaching staff and students and their mental, social and physical wellbeing as I have done till now. It is easy to sow hysteria. It is more important to work for the good of the public.”
