Continued violence in Israeli-Arab sector: man killed in Lod, shooting at home of Tamra mayor
A 40-year-old Arab man was shot and killed in the city of Lod near Tel Aviv last night. Police suspect the event is related to a criminal organization.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency medical services workers.
This murder brings the number of Israeli Arabs killed due to violent crime up to 160 since the beginning of the year, compared to 72 deaths during the same period last year.
Police also announced the arrest of three suspects involved in a shooting incident at the home of the mayor of Tamra earlier this morning. No one was injured in the shooting, according to local news reports.
Tamra is an Arab town in the Galilee, about 15 kilometers (10 miles) east of Haifa.
