Climate activist Thunberg curses Israel, Germany at 'solidarity with Palestine' rally

Swedish climate and anti-Israel activist Greta Thunberg blasted Israel and Germany at a rally on Friday held in Mannheim, Germany.

The event, organized by a group called "Zaytouna" in the German Rhine-Necklar region, officially called for “solidarity with Palestine and the climate movement.”

“F– Germany, and f– Israel!” Thunberg chanted during the rally.

A Mannheim spokeswoman estimated that more than 700 people attended the rally, which was held in the city’s main market square. With a population of around 2.4 million people, Mannheim ranks as Germany’s seventh-largest metropolitan area.

Manuel Hagel, a conservative leader in a regional parliament, strongly criticized the anti-Israel rally and Thunberg’s actions.

"Mannheim does not need a platform for such dehumanizing positions and our country does not need the presence of people like Greta Thunberg," Hagel stated. The conservative lawmaker argued that the increasingly radicalized Thunberg is moving ideologically "very consciously in close proximity to antisemitism."

Thunberg, who until recently mainly associated with her climate activism, has become a vocal opponent of the Jewish state since Oct. 7 of last year. She has refused to condemn the Hamas massacre of 1,200 men, women and children in Israel and has systematically demonized Israel, falsely equating Israeli military operations against Hamas in Gaza with “genocide.”

In May, Thunberg attended an anti-Israel rally in Malmö, Sweden to protest Israel's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest being held there. Approximately 25% of the population of Sweden is of Muslim, Middle Eastern descent. Despite death threats, the Israeli singer Eden Golan secured an impressive fifth spot in the competition.

Like many other anti-Israel activists, Thunberg has consistently claimed she is fighting for “justice” and “human rights.” However, she has increasingly embraced antisemitic slogans like “From the River to the Sea,” which explicitly calls for Israel to be eliminated.

In September, Thunberg was nominated “Antisemite of the Week” by the watchdog group, StopAntisemitism, following her arrest at an anti-Israel rally at Copenhagen University in Denmark. The organization argued that Thunberg had “joined the ranks of keffiyeh-clad protesters, brazenly voicing her disdain for the Jewish state.”

“She has sadly transformed her activism into a platform for vile Jew-hatred,” the group added.

Thunberg has criticized Germany for backing Israel's right to defend itself, even claiming that Germany is actively supporting Israel's “genocide” of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

In October, Alexander Throm, a German lawmaker from the Christian Democratic Union, criticized Thunberg for spreading hatred against Israel and called for banning her from German territory.

"Anyone who enters Germany to incite hatred against Israel and denigrate our police has no place in Germany," Throm said.

Thunberg responded by accusing Germany of “silencing activists.”

"Germany threatens them (activists) when they speak out against the genocide and occupation in Palestine," Thunberg stated while wearing a traditional PLO keffiyeh, which has become a popular accessory at anti-Israel and anti-Jewish rallies worldwide.
