Qatari Foreign Minister - ‘We received a positive response from Hamas regarding hostage deal’
The spokesman for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Majed Al-Ansari, issued a statement regarding the emerging understanding of the hostage deal: "We received an initial positive response from Hamas regarding the outline of the deal for the release of the hostages.”
The US and Qatar have been optimistic about the chances of a new hostage deal, however, many Israeli leaders continue to express doubts that Hamas will agree to Israel’s conditions.
Netanyahu reiterated on Wednesday evening that he is not willing to agree to the release of thousands of Palestinian terrorists in Israeli prisons nor to stopping the IDF’s operation in Gaza without achieving its goals.
Reports indicate that Hamas is now asking for a 10-year ceasefire (hudna) instead of a permanent ceasefire. (The term hudna refers to a temporary peace for the purpose of recuperating.)
