Bloomberg criticizes Israel’s judicial reform – I don’t blame investors for leaving Israel
Michael Bloomberg, CEO of media and financial company Bloomberg, and former New York City mayor, criticized Israel’s judicial reforms in a New York Times opinion piece on Sunday.
Bloomberg said he had refrained from criticizing Israel previously, because “I have never gotten involved in its domestic politics or criticized its government initiatives.”
However, he said, the proposed reforms were “courting disaster.”
Speaking of the flight of some investors from Israel, he wrote, “I don’t blame them.”
“My love for Israel, my respect for its people and my concern about its future are now leading me to speak out against the current government’s attempt to effectively abolish the nation’s independent judiciary,” he wrote.
