Bennett will meet with Gulf leaders in New York ahead of UN speech
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will spend the day meeting with leaders of the Gulf states ahead of his speech scheduled for the United Nations tomorrow.
Bennett, who landed in New York this morning, will meeting with the United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khalifa Al Marar and Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani at his hotel this evening.
Before leaving, Bennett called the UN General Assembly “an important international stage” for him to speak on behalf of Israel.
“This will be an opportunity to tell our story, about Israel's place in the world and about the special spirit of Israelis and our contribution to the world,” he said. He also referred to “the sweeping victory in the vote in the U.S. House of Representatives” of 420 to 9 in favor of replenishing Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system.
“There is a small anti-Israeli group that makes a lot of noise, but these people failed,” he said.
“We do not define ourselves according to others, not according to Iran and not the Palestinians.” he said referring to the Palestinian president’s harsh words aimed at Israel during his UN speech on Friday. “I suggest that their leaders deal with their people, in improving their situation, and stop this obsession with the State of Israel."
