Bennett said to consider tougher restrictions for unvaccinated, step up enforcement
Israel’s borders still closed to foreigners, discussion on whether to reopen them will be held later today
Israeli officials decided to extend restrictions on the unvaccinated and step up enforcement on the Green Passport.
According to Israeli media, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett also instructed the relevant authorities to examine the possibility of mandatory vaccination - although we have been unable to confirm that.
Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz announced the decision after discussions today in light of the Omicron strain.
“It was decided to increase enforcement of the Green Pass via barcode, especially the immediate issuing of tickets, without warning, to those violating the rules. The Public Security Ministry will take the lead on the issue in conjunction with the Israel Police.”
“Prime Minister Bennett directed the professional echelons to evaluate the possibility of imposing restrictions on those who are not vaccinated.”
