Bennett orders round-the-clock vaccination, even on Shabbat; says pace must be doubled
In his quest to vaccinate the entire Israeli population, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett ordered the health maintenance clinics to vaccinate people around the clock, including on Shabbat.
Bennett said on Friday that vaccination is a matter of saving lives, pikuach nefesh, because the COVID shots will safeguard public health. Pikuah nefesh, according to Jewish law, allows an observant Jew to do something that is normally forbidden on the Sabbath.
He said the vaccination efforts must continue around the clock, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and that the pace must be doubled.
