After 514 days, Israel’s snowy Mount Hermon reopens to visitors

After a year and a half of being designated a closed military zone, and a week after the significant snowfall, Mount Hermon reopened today (Tuesday) to visitors. The reopening is currently limited to visitors only, with no skiing allowed due to damage to the site's infrastructure caused during the war, including direct hits on two cable cars. The damage is expected to be repaired only during the summer months.

Visitors can enjoy the snow, take a ride on the visitor cable car, try the extreme sledding track, the SkyRider VR simulation, and snow sledding for children.

Until now, the site was occupied only by soldiers defending the northern sector, and even the site's CEO, Raphael Naveh, was called up for reserve duty. "The excitement this morning is immense," he said. "We've waited far too long for this moment, and we welcome it."

According to Naveh, "Chronologically, early March is already the end of the season, but we did not give up on the opportunity to allow Israeli citizens to return north to Mount Hermon and restart economic and tourism activity in the Galilee and Golan. The public is invited to take advantage of the wonderful weather, book tickets, and head north."

The entrance fee to the site starts at 36 shekels for children and 42 shekels for adults. A cable car ride costs an additional 60 shekels, and a ticket for an attraction costs an extra 45 shekels.

There are combined packages available, including an entry ticket and a cable car ride for 93 shekels, or a package that also includes an attraction for a total of 126 shekels. Additionally, a family package, which includes two entry tickets, two cable car tickets, and two attraction tickets, costs 235 shekels when purchased online in advance.
