45 US planes delivered 1,000 tons of armaments to Israel since ‘Iron Swords’ war began
US sent military supplies and armored vehicles
The 45th American cargo plane supplying Israel with armaments reached Ramon Airport in southern Israel over the weekend, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced.
The United States began supplying Israel with military aid when the war against Hamas began on Oct. 7 and has brought around 1,000 tons of weaponry so far, including a diverse range of offensive and defensive armaments.
The cargo plane that landed in Israel on Friday transported a wide array of military supplies, including military ambulances, medical equipment for IDF use, and various other resources aimed at enhancing readiness capabilities.
On Thursday last week, another cargo plane had delivered the initial shipment of armored vehicles to replace vehicles lost or damaged by the IDF in its efforts to repel the Hamas invasion on Oct. 7 and retake the area surrounding the Gaza Strip.
The delivery is part of a large-scale procurement operation led by the Israeli Defense Ministry’s Directorate of Production and Procurement (DOPP) and the U.S. Procurement Mission, intended to bolster the IDF's fleet of vehicles in order to address a range of operational scenarios.
The director-general of Israel's Ministry of Defense, Maj.-Gen. (res.) Eyal Zamir, authorized procurement orders amounting to over NIS 400 million (about $98.5 million) from both within Israel and internationally.
The procurement orders align with the IDF’s specific needs and encompass a diverse array of specialized vehicles, including armored ambulances, operational armored vehicles, tactical trucks and mechanical engineering equipment.
Hundreds of armored vehicles have already been delivered to the IDF by the Defense Ministry since the war began, with several hundred more currently en route to Israel.
